Don't Let Them Take Away Insurance Coverage for Abortion. Take a Look. Take a Stand.
Do you know if your insurance plan covers abortion? If you have private health insurance, chances are that it does. Reports show that nationwide, more than 80% of private insurance plans cover abortion. But many politicians want to take this coverage away. Amid the debate over health care reform, insurance coverage for abortion is the latest front in the anti-choice assault on choice. Many anti-choice members of Congress are pushing to make it nearly impossible for insurance plans to cover abortion, and five state legislatures have already signed laws restricting abortion coverage on their state insurance exchange, with dozens more of these bills on the way. As New York begins to implement health care reform, there is a real danger that women will lose private insurance coverage for abortion. We need your help. Will you take a minute to call your insurance provider to ask if abortion care is covered on your plan? The process is simple – the number for your health insurance company’s member services should be on the back of your insurance card or on the “contact us” page of the company’s website. Ask the representative that you speak with if your plan covers abortion, then submit your answers on the form below. All answers will be kept confidential unless you indicate otherwise. If you’ve used your insurance to cover the cost of an abortion, your story can also be powerful in our campaign to educate the public about insurance coverage for abortion, and to stop politicians from trying to take that coverage away. If you have a story you’d like to share, please do so below. With your help, we can stop politicians who want to take away abortion coverage.
