“I don’t want to Be...”
I don’t want to be another statistic
of another little who made a poor decision
and ended up pregnant
I don’t want to be another young girl
who didn’t use her head
and is now lying on a bed
she was just having some fun
she thought that using a condom was “wack’
so she decided to have unprotected sex
now shes crying her heart out
I don’t want to be part of the 20 million girls
ages 15 to 24 that are now infected with AIDS
I don’t want to be one of the 3 out of 10 teens that had a baby And now can’t pursue her dreams I am Latina
I am Dominican
I am 17 and im going to finish my drea,
You see, im going to finish High School soon,
and im going to follow through
because my future matters to me
My mommy counts on me to be something
I count on myself
to make changes in the Bronx
I am not going to be part of the 52.4 5 of girls that are now mothers
and doesn’t have a clue
but I know that I do
So when tomorrow starts with me
im gunna be somebody!

pulling out is not enough
To my young Latino and Black man
I applaud you greatly
so young having sex
but doing it safely

babies having babies
is not what we need

protect yourself cause if you didn’t know
10 million are teens
so many dying from cervical cancer
just take the papa test
so you can go on
and lay all suspicions to rest !
