"A pregnant woman needs access to timely, accurate, dependable medical care. But too many New York City women are deceived by pregnancy service centers (commonly referred to as "crisis pregnancy centers” or "CPCs”), which disguise their anti-choice agendas by posing as legitimate reproductive health care facilities, deliberately misleading women, and potentially delaying medical care.
"The dangers posed by CPCs are detailed in a report issued by NARAL Pro-Choice New York, which cited how these sham medical establishments manipulate women by posing as full-service reproductive health care centers, positioning their facilities in close proximity to abortion providers to foster confusion, and lying to women about the dangers of abortion.
"A pregnant woman deserves and has the right to know whether the person posing as her medical provider is actually just an anti-choice activist wearing a white lab coat. That’s why the 2nd Circuit’s decision today – which upheld the City’s requirement that crisis pregnancy centers disclose whether they have a licensed medical provider on staff – is a crucial step toward ending the dangers that these centers pose to pregnant women. We look forward to the City moving forward to implement this important protection.”
