Panel votes to restore abstinence education money

Abstract: In their markup of their health care reform bill, the Senate Finance Committee voted 12-11 to restore $50 million a year in federal funding for abstinence-only education. The measure, which still has to pass the full House and Senate, would reverse President Obama's decision to eliminate funding for ineffective abstinence-only programs.
