Approves 5-Day Emergency Contraceptive Abstract: The FDA gave final approval to a form of emergency contraceptive pill that prevents pregnancies if taken as many as five days after unprotected sex. Unlike the other emergency contraceptive pills on the market, the new pill, called ella, is just as effective when taken on day five as it is on the morning after.
