News

See what's happening in the world of choice with our monthly newsletter, A Few Choice Words

This February, as the New York State legislature prepares to introduce the Reproductive Health Act, and the New York City Council is hammering away at passing the Clinic Access Bill, we kicked off a new six-part speaker series, “Choices: Achieving Reproductive Freedom for All” with a successful event focusing on emergency contraception to get us ready for Back Up Your Birth Control Month in March.

The first month of 2009 was a good one for pro-choice New Yorkers. We celebrated the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, applauded President Obama’s reversal of the Global Gag Rule, and welcomed Kristen Gillibrand, a staunch advocate for women, as our new U.S. Senator. Here at NARAL Pro-Choice New York, we're also excited about our new Activist Leadership Circle and our own Kelli Conlin’s new blog on the Huffington Post.

Happy Holidays from NARAL Pro-Choice New York! Here in New York, the new year will bring us a new U.S. senator, a new State Senate session, and the chance to pass several important pieces of legislation, like the Clinic Access Bill and the Reproductive Health Act. So as 2008 comes to close, check out our pro-choice gift ideas and read our end-of-year political guide to stay informed about the political cliffhangers we’re facing in 2009.

Read about all our election activities, how we're working with the New York City Council to pass the Clinic Access Bill, and see how you can keep the election excitement going at your Thanksgiving dinner table this year.

It's back-to-school time and we're bringing you September sex-ed tips for all ages. September also means that our Teen Outreach Reproductive CHallenge (TORCH) program is back in full effect - read about all our teens are doing this year. Finally, see how we're working with the New York City Council to pass the Clinic Access Bill.

Read about how even though the State Senate is on break, we're making the most of our summer by standing with Hillary Clinton to oppose Bush's incursions on contraception, organizing volunteers and supporters throughout the summer, and bringing you the best beach books to inform your feminist opinions.
