And now for the good news...

In New York State:

Out of 32 State Senate races where NARAL Pro-Choice New York endorsed pro-choice candidates, 21 of those candidates won (re)election to the State Senate.

Of 83 State Assembly races where NARAL Pro-Choice New York endorsed pro-choice candidates, 79 of those candidates won (re)election to the State Assembly.

Highlights Included:

Buffalo: Pro-choice candidate Brian Higgins (D) wins hotly contested congressional seat previously held by anti-choice Jack Quinn (R).

East Harlem/Bronx: Jose Serrano (D) wins a seat in the State Senate, beating mixed-on-choice incumbent Olga Mendez (R)

Bronx/Westchester: Assemblymember Jeff Klein (D) wins a seat in the State Senate formerly held by anti-choice conservative Guy Velella (R).

Westchester: As of press time, it appears pro-choice incumbent Nick Spano (R) will narrowly win his seat for another term.

Rochester: Pro-Choice leader Susan John (D) narrowly holds on to her Assembly seat against challenger Michael Slattery (R).
