on the withdrawal of the Harriet Miers Nomination for the United States Supreme Court
“Harriet Miers’ withdrawal illustrates the need to know where a nominee stands before being considered for a seat on the United States Supreme Court.
The next Justice will have a monumental impact on all of our lives for decades to come. Americans deserve to have necessary information on the background and philosophy of a nominee.
Today’s announcement continues to underscore the intensity and importance of selecting a Justice to replace the moderate voice we have in Sandra Day O’Connor.”
