Senate Confirms Alito. NY Senators Vote No.
Today, January 31, 2006, the United States Senate voted 58-42 to confirm Judge Samuel Alito to the United States Supreme Court.
Anti-choice Samuel Alito now replaces Justice Sandra Day O'Connor who had long been a strong voice in support of women's access to reproductive choice.
The vote of 42 against Samuel Alito represents the second highest total of votes against a nominee in our nation's history.
Despite our loss, we are proud of the principled and strong stand that many progressive Senators took against this devisive nominee.
Call Senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton today to thank them for their leadership against this nominee.
Senator Schumer (202) 224-6542 Senator Clinton (202) 224-4451
