Bush’s Supreme Court Undermines Women’s Health
COURT INVITES ANTI-CHOICE POLITICIANS TO INTERFERE IN PRIVATE MEDICAL DECISIONS
New York --- Kelli Conlin, President, NARAL Pro-Choice New York, issued the following statement in response the Supreme Court decision on the Federal Abortion Ban case:
“Bush’s Supreme Court has seriously harmed women by gutting the protections for women’s health previously guaranteed by Roe v. Wade. This decision ignores medicine and invites politicians to interfere with how doctors care for their patients. NARAL Pro-Choice New York knows that doctors—not politicians—are best able to make medical decisions for their patients.
“An anti-choice Congress and anti-choice President pushed this ban all the way to the Supreme Court. Today is a very sad day for women’s health and we are only more emboldened to make sure that we elect, at every level of government, pro-choice lawmakers who will defend—not attack—our fundamental values.”
By upholding the Federal Abortion Ban in its entirety, the Supreme Court has not only supported an abortion ban with no exception for a woman's health, it has given the green light to the anti-choice movement's plan to outlaw abortion entirely.
If you believe that women and their doctors should never be forced into making difficult, personal, medical decisions based on extremist politics - then stand up and fight back. Click here to take action.
