NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Kelli Conlin Statement on Mayor Bloomberg's Possible Third Term

Posted: 10/01/2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                     Contact: Mary Alice Carr
October 1, 2008                                                              646-326-4238

NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Kelli Conlin
Statement on Mayor Bloomberg’s Possible Third Term

“In his two terms as Mayor, Michael Bloomberg has been a champion for reproductive health. From ensuring that residents in city hospital programs receive excellent training in abortion care to expanding access to emergency contraception and promoting condom distribution, his leadership has made significant and long-lasting improvements in the health and wellness of all New Yorkers.

“Mayor Bloomberg was a recipient of NARAL Pro-Choice New York’s Champion of Choice award in 2005. In a display of true leadership on issues of reproductive health and rights, last May the Mayor hosted a conference of large city mayors, health commissioners and other public officials to begin the development of a common, urban agenda for reproductive health.

“NARAL Pro-Choice New York does not take an official position on the issue of term limits but we do support the City Council’s deliberation of this matter. We would be honored to continue to work with Mayor Bloomberg and his administration should this measure prevail.”
