FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 28, 2010 CONTACT: Samantha Levine, 917-488-0075 NARAL PRO-CHOICE NEW YORK CALLS ON SENATE TO PASS REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ACT Special Session is Time to Make Womens Health a Priority New York, NY: Governor David Paterson has called the Legislature back to Albany today to resolve unfinished business from the legislative session. NARAL Pro-Choice New York is calling on the Senate to pass the Reproductive Health Act in the special session. Statement from Kelli Conlin, President of NARAL Pro-Choice New York: While we recognize that fiscal issues are the main focus of this session, this is also an opportunity for the Senate to show real leadership, stand up for New Yorkers' values, and make womens health a priority. NARAL Pro-Choice New York calls on the Senate to bring the Reproductive Health Act to the floor while they are in Albany this week. New Yorkers have waited three long years for action on this bill. The Reproductive Health Act is critical legislation that will codify a womans right to choose in New York and ensure that no woman has to leave the state in order to receive abortion care if something goes terribly wrong during pregnancy. The women of New York want leaders who are committed to making our reproductive health and rights a priority. We urge all of our pro-choice Senators to step up and to bring this bill to the floor without further delay. ###
